Workshop Descriptions

Opening Remarks: Ripples of Success

Over the past year, BTR Communities has continued to grow, connect, and create change across our community. In these opening remarks, we'll use Ripple Metrics to reflect on where we've been, celebrate the ripples we’ ve created together, and imagine where they might lead next.

Early Morning Breakout Session 1:

Faith Communities & Advocacy (Round Room)

What can we learn from one another about creating faith communities where survivors feel safe, supported, and connected to meaningful help? This guided dialogue brings faith leaders and advocates together to explore trust, partnership, and practical ways faith communities can strengthen pathways to safety for survivors while building relationships that support this work for the long term.

Early Morning Breakout Session 2:

Partnership Discovery Session (Room GO7A)

What if the next solution your organization needs is already in the room? This interactive session will move beyond traditional networking to help participants discover shared needs, complementary strengths, and meaningful opportunities for partnership, exploring what we can accomplish together that none of us could achieve alone.

Early Morning Breakout Session 3:

Employment Innovation Lab (Room GO7B)

What might the workplace of the future look like if it were designed with trauma responsiveness and survivor support in mind? In this interactive session, high school student leaders will share their visions for more supportive workplaces, followed by a collaborative dialogue exploring how these ideas could be put into practice, developed, and brought to life in our community.

Late Morning Breakout Session 1:

The Trauma-Responsive Search for Justice (Room GO7A)

The Trauma-Responsive Search for Justice draws on Sgt. Heather Grimmett’s experience in law enforcement to explore how meaningful partnerships between LEOs & advocates can strengthen investigations, support survivors, & create stronger pathways to justice. Participants will consider how dignity, autonomy, ethics, & trauma-responsive practices can shape the way law enforcement

approaches survivors & cases.

Late Morning Breakout Session 2:

What Should I Do?: Responding to Domestic Violence in Community Spaces (Room GO7B)

This training explores how community members can respond thoughtfully & effectively when domestic violence is disclosed or observed in public & social spaces, from everyday concerns to situations requiring more immediate intervention. Participants will learn practical, trauma-responsive approaches for responding with dignity, maintaining safety & confidentiality, & connecting individuals with appropriate support without taking control of their choices.

Afternoon Keynote Speaker:

To Walk Alongside: Connection in the Presence of Trauma (Room GO7B)

Dr. Daneker's keynote explores trauma, grief, anticipatory grief, & moral injury through a broad spiritual lens of meaning & connection, recognizing the ways these experiences can shape both survivors & those who walk alongside them. Together, participants will consider concrete practices for caring for others &ourselves, & how tending to both is ultimately part of the same work.

Afternoon Closing Session:

“BTR...for Everyone!” Panel Discussion, (Rooms GO7A&B)

In this closing panel, Sgt. Heather Grimmett, Erin Dalton, and Allison Flanagan will explore what becomes possible when trauma-responsive thinking extends across every part of our communities, from businesses and nonprofits to law enforcement and education. Through conversation and shared perspectives, panelists will invite participants to imagine what we can build together when every pillar has a role to play, leaving us with practical possibilities, renewed connection, and hope for what comes next. (Sara Blevins O’Toole, moderating)

That means if you've ever had a Target account or shopped there, you may have votes you can cast waiting in your account. Even if you haven't shopped there in a while, you can follow these steps to see how many votes you have and cast them for Branches Domestic Violence Shelter. At the end of the quarter, we'll be awarded funding based on my how many votes we receive through this process.
