Shelter Volunteers

Client confidentiality, safety, and dignity are the top priorities of our domestic violence program, so all on-site shelter volunteers are required to be 18 years of age and agree to go through our screening process.

If you wish to be a shelter volunteer, please submit a volunteer application located at the bottom of this page. Volunteer opportunities are available at both the Cabell County and Putnam County shelter locations. Please indicate which shelter location you'd prefer using the drop down box on the volunteer application.

Once your application is received, you will be contacted within a few weeks for a brief phone interview.  Please note, a background check may be requested at this time.

Upon approval, each volunteer will be invited to attend a volunteer orientation and training session. At this point, the volunteer will have the opportunity to set up a weekly schedule of their desired hours.

Shelter volunteers may set their schedule between 9am-9pm, 7 days a week.
