
HUNTINGTON, WV – Branches Domestic Violence Shelter is proud to announce that Executive Director, Amanda Weiss-McComas has been honored as one of USA Today’s 2025 Women of the Year. Representing the state of West Virginia, Weiss-McComas has been recognized for her unwavering dedication to ending domestic violence and leading fellow advocates toward meaningful change.
USA Today’s 2025 Women of the Year awards honor 60 influential changemakers across the country, highlighting leaders who are driving progress in their fields. The honorees are women who make a difference every day, in every state. Weiss-McComas’s recognition underscores the critical need for continued advocacy and action in the fight against domestic violence.
Under Weiss-McComas’s leadership, Branches Domestic Violence Shelter has expanded its impact, advocating for survivors, strengthening community partnerships, and advancing trauma-informed responses to domestic violence. Her commitment to ensuring safety, empowerment, and justice for survivors has made a lasting impact not only in West Virginia but across the nation.
“It is such an honor to be recognized on the national level in this way—and I hope that this will only increase awareness of the important work that is still left to be done in the movement to end domestic violence,” said McComas.
