True Colors: Intersections of Allyship & Domestic Violence Advocacy


Branches Domestic Violence Shelter to host “True Colors: Intersections of Allyship & Domestic Violence Advocacy”. Branches staff is offering this free community training to help allies advocate and empower those in the LGBTQ+ community that might be experiencing domestic violence. The training will include discussion of unique challenges and types of abuse that members of the community might face and discussion of how we can work together to reduce barriers and create safer environments for those seeking help.

“This training is meant to raise awareness of resources available to members of the LGBTQ+ community and to help equip community members with the tools they need to effectively advocate for loved ones who might be experiencing domestic violence,” says Amanda McComas, Executive Director. Branches Domestic Violence Shelter is committed to serving all victims of domestic violence including those in under-served communities such as LGBTQ+ and providing those services in a safe, inclusive environment.

This event is free of charge and open to all.
